Known Folder Move
Known Folder Move is a feature that redirects your Windows standard folders (e.g., Desktop, Documents, and Pictures) to your personal drive on VisualDrive Server.
Once enabled, any data in these folders is continuously backed up and synced to the server.

How Known Folder Move works
Each time a file in one of your known folders is modified, a new version is automatically saved to VisualDrive Server. This provides continuous backup and ensures your data is accessible from any device where you are signed in.
The Known Folder Move feature is typically enabled by your administrator. Depending on the configured policy, this process may happen in one of two ways:
-
Silent move
Your folders are automatically moved to your drive on VisualDrive Server without any action required from you. You might see a notification letting you know the move process has started. -
Prompted move
You’ll receive a notification from the OneDrive app, prompting you to begin the Known Folder Move process manually.
Accessing your files
After your folders are moved, you will still access your files from the same familiar locations on your computer (e.g., the Desktop or Documents folder). File Explorer will automatically redirect you to the new synced location.
Undoing a Known Folder Move
If your administrator has not prevented it, you may be able to manually undo a Known Folder Move through the OneDrive app settings. However, it’s generally recommended to keep these folders backed up to ensure your data is protected.
