Quotas
Quotas control the maximum size of personal and shared drives in VisualDrive Server. Administrators can set these limits to manage storage effectively, enforce organizational policies, and prevent storage exhaustion.
Exceeding quota limits will prevent users from uploading new files via the OneDrive app.
Quota configuration
The following quota settings can be configured independently:
-
Quota limit for personal drives
This quota limit specifies the maximum size of each personal drive on the server. It can be set to one of the predefined values or to any custom value.
-
Quota limit for shared drives
The shared drive quota defines the maximum size for each shared drive. Similar to personal drives, this limit can be set to one of the predefined values or to a custom value.
Quota calculation
The quota limit is applied to the drive size.
The drive size is the total size of the most recent versions of files stored on the drive. Items located in the Recycle Bin and previous file versions are not counted towards the drive size.
Reaching the quota limit
The following behavior occurs in the OneDrive app when a user reaches the quota limit:
| Reached threshold | Behavior in OneDrive app |
|---|---|
| 90% of quota | User receives a warning message indicating the storage limit is nearly reached. |
| 100% of quota | User cannot upload new files to VisualDrive Server until sufficient space is freed or the quota is increased. |
Default quota limits
Upon installation, quotas are configured with the following default values:
| Drive type | Default quota limit |
|---|---|
| Personal drives | 1 TB |
| Shared drives | 1 TB |
